Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion has two purposes, comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.” We can all agree we love to feel beautiful and we also find a sense of comfort when we are dressed nice. But Letʼs face it, life happens and sometimes we run into body altering changes.
Whether itʼs postpartum belly or a midlife butt enhancement we still search for ways to make fashion succeed or simply feel beautiful. Thatʼs why itʼs essential to know your body type and how to dress for it! Every body is beautiful we come in all different shapes and sizes. That is what makes each of us unique.
“Fashion has two purposes, comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.”
The dope Meghan Trainor said it best - any body type is beautiful itʼs all
about loving what you got and rocking it. Even though no body is the same we can still categorize our shapes into a few broad categories that identify with our bodily characteristics and ROCK It!
Itʼs just all about discovering what category your body type and appearance identifies with.
Body Type #1: The Rectangle Shape
The rectangle shape body is really common. If your waist is about the same measurements as your hip or bust, and your shoulders and hips are about the same width this is your body type basically you are straight up and down. With this body
type your arms and legs are the assets.
Focus on enhancing that. Sleeveless, strapless and sweetheart lines are a hit when u have a rectangle body shape. Blazers, long jackets and capes add the little umph and that extra razzle dazzle.
Body Type #2: The Hourglass Shape
Another common body type a lot of people can identify with is the hourglass shape. If your hips and bust are nearly equal in size and you have a well-defined waist thatʼs narrower than both then you are team hourglass.
This body type is a well-proportioned figure so dresses that cinch at the waist, plunge V and sweetheart necklines can help you flaunt your upper body. This body type can wear nearly anything and
it looks good.
Body Type #3: The Pear Shape
Then there is the triangle shape body type sometimes called the pear shape. With this shape, your shoulders and bust are narrower than your hips. Kim Kardashian is the perfect example for this body type. Your bottom half is larger than your top half. Your shoulders are narrow, and hips are wide.
Since your shoulders are narrow you have an advantage
all you have to do is to strike a balance. That would create an illusion of an hourglass shape. Wide legged pants would look great on this body type. Ruffles tops that add a little definition would be a hit on this body type as well.
Body Type #4: The Inverted Triangle or Apple Shape
The most athletic looking shape is commonly known as the inverted Triangle or the apple shape. With this body type your shoulders are much broader than your hips. This is another body type you should focus on creating balance with.
Adding definition to your hips would help with that. V cut tops will give the illusion of a narrower shoulders. Straight cut jeans and dresses that have a inverted V look to them gorges well on this body type. Try to stay away from tops with flares ruffles or anything that could enhance the upper body.
