THE EDITOR IN CHIEF

A New York-born contemporary pop artist, vocalist, songwriter, and performer, Kym Gio has spent more than two decades building a career defined by resilience, evolution, and an unwavering commitment to her artistry. Her music captures the raw architecture of heartbreak, healing, self-discovery, and hard-won resilience, transforming deeply personal experiences into songs about reclaiming power and moving forward.

Kym’s musical foundation was established early in New York, where the harmonies of school choruses and church choirs helped shape her vocal identity. By the age of 16, she was already recording her first pop demo and performing on local stages, developing the commanding stage presence that would become a defining part of her artistry.

Her early professional journey accelerated in the 2000s. Kym worked closely with rock and roll pioneer Ike Turner and later performed as a dancer on one of the industry’s most recognizable stages, appearing alongside Good Charlotte and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Those experiences gave her a firsthand understanding of performance, production, and the discipline required to operate at a professional level.

Rather than allowing time to define her career, Kym continued to evolve.

Over the following two decades, she expanded her catalog through multiple releases while developing a sound that sits at the intersection of contemporary pop and R&B. Records such as “Invested” and “So Dope Twogether” featuring John Thomas became important moments in that evolution, introducing her distinctive voice and perspective to a broader audience. Her recorded catalog continues to reflect that progression, with her music available across major streaming platforms.

In 2026, Kym entered an especially personal creative period.

Her release, “Never Again,” represents a decisive moment in her songwriting, transforming the emotional weight of past experiences into a statement of boundaries, self-respect, and personal sovereignty. The song helped establish the emotional foundation for what would become her milestone conceptual project, Eight Years.

Produced in collaboration with TasteMaker Music LLC under Kym Gio Music, “Eight Years” is a nine-track project that explores the complicated territory between devotion, disappointment, memory, and closure. Songs including “Can’t Erase You,” “Played My Part,” and “Still Feel You” examine what happens when love leaves an imprint that time alone cannot erase.

Rather than presenting heartbreak as a weakness, Kym uses it as a source of creative perspective. Eight Years functions as both an emotional post-mortem and a declaration of artistic independence. The project reflects an artist looking backward without-

remaining trapped in the past, using music to process what happened while defining what comes next.

Now, Kym Gio is taking that evolution into an even larger professional chapter.

She has entered a label venture with ALPHA Recording Group / Universal Music Group / Virgin Music Group, expanding the infrastructure surrounding her music and positioning her for the next stage of her career. Alongside that new chapter, Kym is now managed by music executive and artist development professional Luciano Layne, bringing additional strategic direction to her continued growth as an artist.

The new partnership represents more than a business development. It signals a new phase for an artist who has spent years developing her craft, surviving personal chapters, and continuing to create despite the obstacles that could have caused her to walk away.

From New York choir lofts to local stages, from working alongside legendary figures to performing on the MTV Video Music Awards stage, and now into a new label and management era, Kym Gio’s story is ultimately about persistence.

Her music speaks to anyone who has loved deeply, lost something meaningful, questioned their own worth, and eventually found the strength to choose themselves.

In this next era, Kym Gio is not starting over. She is stepping forward with everything she has learned.
