How Many Affirmations Can You Find?

The world has changed the definition of beauty through the generations. It has continually impacted women and how they view themselves. From our dolls and barbies to models in magazines, it has not shown the beautiful diversity it needs to. Times are changing and they will continue to, but the world should never get to dine your beauty - YOU should.

Can you count the number of times you talk down to yourself in your head throughout the day? I can say that mine is a higher number than I would like to admit. It is harder to compliment myself than to pick me apart. Can you imagine if what you said about your own body in your head you said out loud about someone else's body?

It definitely would not be received well. So then, why do we do it to ourselves, and how do we change it? How do we put a stop to the negativity and bring positivity? These things we call imperfections need to start being looked at as perfect. We all know that when we look in the mirror there are changes and alterations we want to make.

But what if those very things make us unique and set us apart from the crowd?

We are in constant comparison, not only to those we see on movies, magazines or instagram, but to everyone around us. That tends to be quite the trend among the world. It is an instinct that we have to look around and size up those around us, making comparisons.

I can confidently say that comparison kills. Why compare yourself to someone when you were never supposed to be them? You were born a unique individual; embrace and love that.

As the youngest of five, comparison was a pretty easy thing to focus on in all aspects of my life. It took a long time, and actually, it is a continual process for me to put a stop to those thoughts and fully love the woman I am and be confident in it. It all starts in our own minds.

If we want to change the definition of beauty, we have to be able to see ourselves as beautiful and call it out. Beauty has different faces, colors, shapes and sizes. Define beauty...well, go look in the mirror. It is the unique, unfiltered, raw version of yourself. Your beautiful self is key in the beauty the world beholds. We must first change our own mindset and self-talk before we can go out and change how the world sees it. It is your body and it is your choice to see the beauty in it.
