Luciano Layne, CEO and Founder of ALPHA Magazines has returned to the world of book publishing with his latest title, "Love, Kindness and Kingston: My Superhero Dad & Me," a heart-warming children's story full of affirmations and the message of overcoming.
In celebration and dedication to his own son, Kingston, Layne's newest book is one of his most personal undertakings.
As Layne state's, "It's from a proud autism dad. As a father, there are a lot of men that have children that are autistic that I don’t really feel like understand, know how or have the tools and resources, or they might even be too embarrassed or ashamed to even to point [autism] out but me, I embrace everything, I don’t see it as a flaw, I see it as a perfection, and he and I have such a great relationship that I just want to share it with the whole world.”
As more and more children around the United States, deal with their unique struggles, many fathers like Layne search for answers. No stranger to empowering young people, Love, Kindness and Kingston builds off of his first book, S.A.M.A.R.Y.A., a story dedicated to his daughter about accepting one's differences from an early.
“I created my first book, S.A.M.A.R.Y.A., inspired by my daughters, and [Kingston's] always said to me, I want a book, I want a book,” Layne recalls. “We were going through a lot of things in life, with different emotions, and what was helping him get through a lot of those emotions were the affirmations that we practiced everyday."
As a father seeing the need for alternative narratives in the conversation around autism, Layne took action in his son's life and penned Love, Kindness and Kingston, focusing his writing on the relationship between him and his youngest boy, Kingston.
As Layne states in plain language, "Its just a book full of affirmations that children who are autistic and children who are not autistic will be able to relate to." Everyday, Layne and his son practice affirming themselves to build confidence and feel great about the day ahead. He admits that sometimes Kingston has days where he feels much better than others, and those more difficult days require all the love and healing power of words they can afford. “I am smart, I am important, I am a prince and I come from a king, and today I’m going to have a great day," are some of the things young Kingston recites with regularity. It is self-love in its purest form.
Set for a July release date, Love Kindness and Kingston: My Superhero Dad and Me will be available online and on book shelves of stores such as Amazon, Walmart, Target and more.
